As a brewer running a business, it’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day demands of keeping your company profitable. Yet, it’s still important to remember that your brewery is a part of a community, both locally and beyond. Take Oregon-based Deschutes, for example. The brewery is hitting the road to visit Cleveland, but it’s keeping charity at the forefront of its messaging. Deschutes Brewery is packing up the world’s largest pop-up pub and shutting down the street in Cleveland for the ultimate craft beer block party. As if you needed another excuse to crash a killer craft beer event and scope out your competition, this 402-foot custom bar will be slinging beers from 40 taps all to benefit the Western Reserve Land Conservancy, a nonprofit conservation organization that works to preserve and restore high-quality environments for all living things in northern Ohio. One hundred percent of proceeds from the event will go to the charity.
It all goes down this Saturday, August 1,(Tomorrow!) from 2-10 p.m. at Hingetown on 29th Street between Detroit Avenue and Clinton Avenue. Rumor has it that Craft Brewing Business Editor Chris Crowell will be in attendance, but good luck spotting him.
