Regulations governing craft beer sales, distribution and even brewing are a big issue for this growing industry. Antiquated laws that don’t keep up with current beer trends can stifle new craft brewing businesses, stymieing the opportunity for new jobs and an injection of good old American entrepreneurship into a local and regional market.
Many grassroots campaigns can spring up around issues. Take the Associated Beer Distributors of Illinois (ABDI), for example. The association’s latest campaign is to send a profile of a local business to local legislators to keep them in touch with the small businesses that are brewing up around them.
The new program called Beer Distributors, Local Independent Businesses …delivering more than just beer aims to highlight a different distributor each month. This week, the first distributorship profile, LRB Distributors Inc. in Dixon, Ill., was mailed to local legislators and media. Click here to read the first independent distributorship profile published by the ABDI (PDF file).
Once you’re done there, check out our full offering of craft beer-related regulation and legislation coverage. It might just spark an idea for how to stay relevant in the eyes of your local legislators.
