Mims Distributing Co., a wholesale beverage distributor in North Carolina, has added DuClaw Brewing Co. to its lineup of brewing partners. The Baltimore-based brewing company offers more than 35 unique handcrafted beers, including their bestselling brew, Sweet Baby Jesus, a chocolate peanut butter porter.
Dave Benfield founded DuClaw as a homebrewing operation while in college. In 1996, he opened DuClaw Brewing Co. as a brewpub to serve his own original handcrafted beer in Bel Air, Md. Having outgrown the facility in Bel Air, DuClaw is now housed in a state of the art facility in Abingdon, Md. Today, Benfield and DuClaw Brewing Co. Brewmaster Jim Wagner collaborate as the masterminds behind their diverse array of handcrafted brews. The DuClaw brewing staff works to create a unique identity for each new beer, from naming the product to branding and product launch.
“North Carolina’s growing craft beer scene has been on our radar for awhile,” Benfield said. “Reaching this milestone is a big deal to us, and we can’t wait to get our beers into the hands of more people who can truly appreciate our inventive – and sometimes weird but always cool – approach. The folks at Mims Distributing love our fluid, and we have a high-level of respect for the work they do. They’re undoubtedly the partner that will help us get there.”
Some brews, such as Bare Ass Blonde and Dirty Little Freak, are available on tap and in bottles year round, while others rotate through the lineup depending on available ingredients and seasonality.
“We are thrilled to announce our partnership with DuClaw Brewing Company,” said Chip Mims, CEO of Mims Distributing Co. “DuClaw creates great handcrafted brews with innovative hop blends and variations. Mims cannot wait to delight Triangle area beer lovers with the incredible styles from DuClaw.”
