The Fort Collins Brewery is taking a lineup staple, Red Banshee, and remixing its recipe — and that’s just the type of nerdy brewing thing that excites us around here. Fort Collins said that Red Banshee may have the same ruby hue, but will hold a bolder taste.
“Just when you think you know Red Banshee, you don’t. She may have the same edgy look, but our daredevil has recreated herself using a German alt yeast strain to let her biscuit and caramel personality shine through. Saying goodbye to Chocolate malts and increasing her hop profile, Red Banshee is a true madcap you can’t resist falling for,” the brewery said in a statement.
An eye-catching red ale and caramel malt aroma with a touch of citrus notes punctuate the pleasant sweetness of this brew. Wheat malt coalesces with the earthy flavor of Willamette hops for a hauntingly beautiful combination.
Red Banshee, around since 2008, has been one of the original full time brews in FCB’s lineup. It received a Silver Medal in the American Red Category at the 2o12 U.S. Open Beer Championships. Red Banshee will be available to FCB’s 22-state distribution year-round in six-packs and on draft, along with the Brewer’s Lunch Box, a variety 12-pack.
The Fort Collins Brewery is a family-owned, handcrafted brewery in northern Colorado. FCB resides in a new 30,000-square-foot facility with a full-size restaurant, Gravity 1020 Modern Tavern, offering a locally sourced menu and open seven days a week.
