We’ve written a lot about the ability of cans to take craft beer where it has never been before — like parks, arenas and sporting events. (Seriously, a lot) But as craft beer popularity grows, canning your beer isn’t the only way to get your beer in big profit centers like stadiums and ball parks as No-Li Brewhouse showed this week, announcing that Seattle’s Safeco and Century Link Fields are now sporting Spokane-Style beers with No-Li Brewhouse’s Empire No. 8 Session IPA on tap.
Empire No. 8 gets its name from the Empire Builder train that travels from Chicago to Spokane to Seattle and Portland. The train was used frequently for people traveling from the Midwest to the Pacific Northwest during the World’s Fair Expos in 1962 in Seattle, and in 1974 in Spokane.
Today, the Empire Builder goes directly by both Safeco and Century Link Field stadiums; many Mariners fans hear the train’s whistle in the middle of home games. Now, the Empire has landed at the stadiums in the form of No-Li’s Empire No. 8 Session IPA.
