Recently, Uinta Brewing‘s Owner Will Hamill and Headbrewer Kevin Ely’s took a trip to Germany to inspect a new, four-vessel, 130-barrel (bbl) Braukon brewhouse, as apart of an expansion that included a new, 34,000-square foot packaging facility and increased fermentation including six 520-bbl outdoor fermentation tanks. (More news on the expansion and equipment to come.) But Will and Kevin also brought back some inspiration for its latest release — Tinder, a German-style Rauchbier (Smoked Beer) that kindles moderate malty sweetness and robust smokiness. Brewed with Bamberg beechwood-smoked malt, this medium-bodied lager ignites distinct campfire smoke flavors and aroma.
Aromatic, bright and balanced, Tinder is bottle conditioned and has an ABV of 6.5 percent. Scheduled to hit select shelves in late January, Tinder is a limited release beer, only 180 bbls were brewed.
Keeping with Uinta’s Crooked Line tradition of supporting local art talent, Tinder’s label art was produced by Leia Bell, a local print artist. Leia was also the artist for Uinta’s Tilted Smile and Sea Legs labels.
