Comac canning lines offer complete solution for craft brewers

Comac has been manufacturing canning equipment for many years to serve domestic and overseas brewing markets. The company introduced a can line in the United States in 2011.

Comac designed the 8-1 monoblock with U.S. craft brewers in mind. The model runs 60 cpm, so it covers the needs of the expanding brewery, but with a limited footprint and a reasonable budget. Comac also provides turnkey installations with semi- or fully-automatic depalletizer, gravity rinser (single or multiple lanes), level control equipment, can dryer and conveyor systems.

Typically Comac engineers will commission the line onsite at the brewery.

The next step up is the 16-4 model that has a speed of 130 cpm. Comac also offers faster equipment with complete automation for larger breweries. Great improvements have been made concerning the design of the beer flow in the filling valve to reduce oxygen content as well.

“We are seeing a strong interest from breweries that are not canning at this time and want to add this packaging to their portfolio, or breweries already canning with basic manual or semi-automatic equipment, and are ready to upgrade with faster automatic production to better serve their can market,” said Frederic Petit with Comac/Eurosource. “The initial reluctance to package craft beer in cans is becoming a thing of the past. Breweries now recognize that cans have their place on the market as a very convenient package for the consumer. It also carries a favorable image for the environmentally conscious brewery.”

Comac manufactures a wide line of other packaging equipment including keg cleaning/filling lines and bottling machines. Comac has reorganized its after sale department to better serve customers all over the world.
