Braven Brewing Co. became the latest craft brewer to head to a crowdfunding platform and reach 100 percent of its goal. The new craft brewery’s Kickstarter campaign had four days before conclusion when it reached its goal.
The campaign sought $20,000 to open a brewery in the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn, N.Y. This successful campaign allows Braven to open a pilot brewing space in Bushwick as early as January 2014, with plans to open a full size brewery and taproom within a year of starting the pilot brewing system.
“We are now able to bring brewing back to Bushwick, one of America’s original beer capitals,” said co-founder Marshall Thompson. “We were able to rally the Brooklyn beer community and make this dream of creating a local brewery a reality.”
Kickstarter backers are rewarded with a range of exclusive Braven and Bushwick brand prize packages, including a traditional football scarf ($250), beanie ($200), tote bag ($150), and a pint glass ($60). For a more hands-on experience, Braven is offering backers a chance to act as assistant brewer for a day ($500) or craft their very own microbrew recipe ($1,000). All prizes are available exclusively through the Braven Brewing Co. Kickstarter campaign.
Braven’s flagship offerings — Braven White, a hop-strong, easy drinking wheat IPA, and Braven Black, a sessionable, dark spin on the IPA — will be available in cans and on tap in Brooklyn and throughout New York City.
“Being a small microbrewery allows us to really get creative,” said co-founder Eric Feldman. “New Yorkers have unparalleled access to incredible cuisine, but they’re missing out on what can be done with handcrafted beers. Braven will be a destination for those seeking a more complete beer experience.”
