The Brewers Association (BA) has told us the craft beer industry is on the rise. In June, the BA noted that the number of operating breweries in the United States was 2,538. Contrast that with the 1890s, when breweries were at their previous peak of 2,011. How else can we tell that the craft beer industry is specifically growing? Well, many ways, including that the BA is growing itself (the BA being the major association for craft beer).
The BA announced it will be relocating its headquarters in 2014 to a larger office in Boulder, Colo. The not-for-profit trade association has been growing steadily — along with the booming craft beer industry — necessitating the move to a bigger space. The BA has been at its current location, 736 Pearl Street, for nearly three decades. The new office, 1327 Spruce Street, is almost double the size, covering 11,600 square feet, and will accommodate the BA’s need for additional work space. The transaction has an expected close date of April 1 and a purchase price of $4 million.
“With this move, the Brewers Association remains committed to being part of the downtown Boulder business community,” said Bob Pease, COO, Brewers Association. “The BA is proud to be part of the growing community that is craft brewing. This move will allow our staff to better serve our members in the months and years ahead.”
